Since 1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program.  During these past eight decades, over 10 million players have enjoyed playing the game of baseball.  The American Legion and the 2.7 million members have raised millions of dollars each year to give young baseball players an opportunity to learn the importance of teamwork, team loyalty, discipline, leadership and good sportsmanship.  The purpose of American Legion Baseball has always been to help develop America's youth that will someday step forward and become the nation's future leaders. In 2014, Nebraska American Legion Baseball supported over 280 Junior and Senior teams across the state, comprised of over 4,000 players.Posts, sponsors, parent groups and countless volunteers successfully conducted 41 District tournaments and State tournaments, with two Class A teams qualifying to play in Region 6 of the National Tournament and one team moving on to the American Legion World Series.  Nebraska American Legion Baseball continues to be one of the top five programs in the nationa when ranked by number of teams registered.
The American Legion is the largest veteran's organization in the world with a membership of nearly 3 Million war-time veterans in the United States, District of Columbia and four foreign countries.  Members of The American Legion are honorably discharged men and women who served their country on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States during World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and Persian Gulf Wars and Conflicts.  The American Legion was founded and organized in 1919.  Since that time, The American Legion has touched virtually every facet of American life, fulfilling its main objective of service to the community, state and nation. Silent Auction Fundraiser for Jim Sake
There will be a fundraising supper and silent auction to benefit Jim Sake, who lost his legs to diabetes recently.  Jim has been involved in American Legion Baseball and younger leagues for many years.  The event will be held at the Valley Veteran's Club on August 23rd from 5:00 to 8:00pm.    Please contact Kieth Hansen with questions at 402-637-4535.

Hebron player selected at Nebraska American Legion Baseball Player of the Year
Benjamin Hintz of Hebron has been selected as the 2014 Nebraska American Legion Player of the Year. Each year thousands of America’s youth participate in American Legion Baseball across the State. This year Benjamin Hintz, of the Hebron Baseball team, was selected above all others as the Nebraska American Legion Baseball Player of the Year. Ben has shown extensive support to baseball, education and to his community. As a Catcher, he was instrumental in assisting Hebron’s rise in the State playoffs. His accomplishments in sports continued past baseball, being selected to All-State Band, All-State Vocal, Academic All-State Football, Basketball, Track and was a State Quizbowl qualifier.

Regional Tournament Information
The 2014 American Legion Baseball Central Plains Regional Tournament starts up on Thursday, August 7.  The play by play of all games involving KB Building Services (Omaha Westside), P.I. Midwest (Creighton Prep) in the Central Plains Region-6 American Legion Baseball TournamentAugust 7-11 will be webcast on  It is a new website that has been used in the past few days for State Tournament webcasts, using the U-Stream app on desktops, tablets, I-phones and the like, with audio and limited cell-phone video.  Dick Janda and Thom Corritore will handle the play x play.

1 pm:  PI Midwest (Creighton Prep) vs St Cloud (MN) Chutes

5 pm:  KB Building Services (Omaha Westside) vs Bismarck (ND) Governors

Class A Playoff
The 2014 Class A playoff game has been scheduled for 12:00pm at the Omaha Westside home field on Saturday, August 2nd.  The game is American Division Champion KB Building Services vs National Division Champion PI Midwest.

Both teams advance to the Central Plains Regional tournament at Fargo, ND. KB Building Services will play North Dakota in Game 3. PI Midwest will play the Minnesota Runner-Up in Game 2.

Baseball Showcase August 6 - Omaha
The Omaha Storm Chasers have teamed up with The Strike Zone training facility to provide top local amateur baseball players the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of professional baseball scouts and college coaches at Werner Park.  Over 100 college coaches and professional scouts have been invited to attend this event.  Those interested in registering for the showcase, or in getting more information, should go to or call The Strike Zone at 402-398-1238.  Click HERE for showcase flyer.
