The Department
of Nebraska Athletic Committee formed the Umpire Liaison
Committee in 2007 to assist the committee in the following:
- Assist in the
development and implementation of the Nebraska American
Legion Baseball Umpire Certification and Training
Program.
- Assist in the
formulation of umpire policies for Nebraska American
Legion Baseball
- Assist in the
consideration of rule changes
- Assist in the selection
of State Tournament Umpires

UMPIRES - New FILLABLE
Umpire Ejection/Incident Report now available
To help facilitate better
timing and submission of Ejection Reports, we have created a new
fillable PDF
Umpire Ejection Report form that will allow you to fill out the form
following the game on your computer, save the file, and then submit it
to
actdirlegion@windstream.net as an attachment to your email. No
more handwriting the form and mailing/faxing it in...unless of course,
that is your preference! Thanks HP! |

Definitions:
Registered Umpires:
Have paid $35.00 fee, filled out registration form, taken 10
question test and mailed all to The Nebraska Department.
Eligible for Regular season games Only.
Certified
Umpires:
Have paid $35.00 fee, filled out registration form, taken 10
question test and mailed all to The Nebraska Department. You
will be required to attend an American Legion approved
clinic listed on our website and take part 2 of the exam.
Eligible for Regular and all Post Season games.

| 2012
Umpire Certification Information |
-
Cost for registration is $35.00.
-
Umpire registration
requires the completion of a
10-question test that must be completed and mailed
along with the 2012 Umpire Application and payment to
Department Headquarters.

Umpires wishing to become "Certified," will complete
another test during attendance at a NALB-sanctioned
Umpire Clinic.
-
Umpire deadline:
applying for state is May 21, 2012 and applying for area
and regular season is June 18, 2012.

Regular season games will use a minimum of one
Registered Nebraska Legion Umpire.

Starting the 2013 Season all umpires for regular
season must be registered and certified.

All post season umpires will be required to be
registered and certified Nebraska Legion Umpires.

All tournament umpires (Area and State) shall be certified by Department
Headquarters. To be certified you must attended
an annual American Legion sponsored umpire clinic
/ rules meeting and complete the Umpire test before
working any tournament games. Part 2 exam is only
given at the rules meeting and must be signed by a
Liaison Umpire.

To be considered for assignment to work AREA
tournaments, an umpire must be registered and
certified. A list of area tournament directors will
be provided and the umpire is to make contact with them
to be hired for an area tournament.

To be considered for an assignment to work STATE
tournaments,
an umpire must be registered and certified; has been
an American Legion Umpire a minimum of five (5) years;
and has umpired Area tournaments for at least three (3)
years. The Department Athletic Committee will hire
the State umpires at the June 2, 2012 meeting. Only
certified umpires will be selected for State.

It is recommended that an
Umpire Resume
be attached to the Application for Certification for
experienced Umpires who are interested in working Area
and State Tournaments.

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that ALL UMPIRES attend
one of the Clinics/Rules Meetings held around the State.

After the first year of registration, all umpire patches
must be purchased. These are available at department
headquarters for $2.00 plus tax.

Umpires requesting State Tournament assignment should
forward a copy (if any) of their scheduled games for
high school, college and Legion games with their
Certification Application
