Certified Umpires:
Have paid $35.00 fee, filled out registration form, taken Part 1 test (Questions 1-10) and mailed all to The Nebraska Department. You will be required to attend an American Legion approved clinic listed on our website and take Part 2 of the test (Questions 11-20). Eligible for Regular and all Post Season games.

Cost for registration is $35.00.
Umpire registration requires the completion of Part 1 test (Questions 1-10) that must be completed and mailed along with the 2017 Umpire Application and payment to Department Headquarters.
Umpires wishing to become "Certified," will complete Part 2 test (Questions 11-20) during attendance at a NALB sanctioned Umpire Clinic.
Umpire deadline: applying for State and Area is May 22, 2017 and applying for Regular season is June 6, 2017.
All new umpires need to attend an American Legion sponsored umpire clinic/rules meeting.
All past umpires who only intend to work regular season must be registered and complete an official American Legion sponsored clinic/rules meeting in the past 3 years.
All post season umpires will be required to be registered and certified Nebraska Legion Umpires.
All tournament umpires (Area and State) shall be certified by Department Headquarters. To be certified you must attended an annual American Legion sponsored umpire clinic/rules meeting and complete the Umpire test before working any tournament games. Part 2 test (Questions 11-20) is only given at the rules meeting and must be signed by a Liaison Umpire.
To be considered for assignment to work AREA tournaments, an umpire must be registered and certified.
To be considered for an assignment to work STATE tournaments, an umpire must be registered and certified; has been an American Legion Umpire a minimum of five (5) years; and has umpired Area tournaments for at least three (3) years. The Department Athletic Committee will hire the State umpires at the June 10, 2017 meeting.
Only certified umpires will be selected for State.
It is recommended that an Umpire Resume be attached to the Application for Certification for experienced Umpires who are interested in working Area and State Tournaments.
Umpires requesting State Tournament assignment should forward a copy (if any) of their scheduled games for high school, college and Legion games with their Certification Application.
It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that ALL UMPIRES attend one of the Clinics/Rules Meetings held around the State.
After the first year of registration, all umpire patches must be purchased. These are available at department headquarters for $2.00 plus tax.
